The SABC has advised the four journalists not to return to work as the public broadcaster intends to appeal the ruling.

The trade union Solidarity’s Dirk Hermann tweeted that the SABC intends to appeal judgement, adving the four journalists to NOT return to work.

Yesterday the Labour Court in Johannesburg ruled that the dismissal of four journalists by the public broadcaster was unlawful and the journalists were to be reinstated. The four are part of a group of eight journalists fired by the SABC for speaking to the media about the censorship within the public broadcast.

In June, veteran journalist and Acting CEO of the SABC Jimmi Matthews resigned from the SABC citing a corrosive environment.
