Dilma Rouseff the 36th and first Female President of Brasil from 2011 to 31 August 2016

Brazil’s first female president has been impeached after she was found guilty of breaking budgetary laws. Rouseff was found guilty of moving funds between government budgets, which is illegal under Brazilian law.

Brazil is part of a grouping of emerging economies along Russia, India, China and South Africa. With the change in power in Brazil,

Roussef and her supporters have called the impeachment a coup.


Former chief justice of the Supreme Court who is widely admired public figure Joaquim Barbosa has called on Brazilians to wake up in the wake of the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff.

Michel Temer has been sworn in as president of Brazil. During the Rio Olympics we saw protesters holding puckcards rejecting Temer as the country’s president. It remains to be seen
