Khulubuse Zuma, chairman of the liquidated Aurora Empowerment Systems

After six years of lawsuits and delays, President Zuma’s nephew and chairman of the liquidated Aurora Empowerment Systems Khulubuse Zuma has agreed to pay R23 million to Pamodzi and Aurora mineliquidators

Earlier this year, the the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein dismissed an application by Zuma and five Aurora directors application for leave to appeal a high court judgment that held them personally liable for damages of R1.7billion

In 2015 the High Court in Pretoria found the directors of Aurora, which included Khulubuse Zuma and former president Nelson Mandela’s grandson Zondwa Mandela, guilty of stripping the assets of the liquidated Pamodzi Gold’s mines.  They were also accused of causing the loss of more than 5 300 jobs.

Khulubuse has already paid 5 million rand and will settle the rest in monthly installments

The other directors reportedly failed to comply with the R5.9m damages agreement and have consequently been  sequestrated
