The Congress of South African Trade Unions has endorsed current ANC and country deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa as next the ANC President and subsequently that of the republic. Well, that is if the ANC wins the 2019 national elections

Cosatu which is part of Tripartite Alliance with the ANC and the South African Communist Party says former unionist Ramaphosa, has shown that he is committed to the ANC and the tripartite alliance, fighting against corruption and placing the interests of workers first.

But Ramaphosa is tainted by his alleged involvement in the Marikana Massacre that left 44 mine workers dead after a wage dispute with Lonmin- where he was chairperson of board and has other business interests. In fact, the Deputy President declared personal wealth that’s well over R110 million to parliament last year.

Is Ramaphosa the best South Africa has to offer for a President?

Is this a blow to current President Zuma’s camp that wants AU Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to be the next leader? Share your views with us
