While some of us slept, President Jacob Zuma decided it was a good idea to fire five cabinet minister, reshuffle some in all appointing 10 new ministers and 10 deputy ministers.

Malusi Gigaba who has a Bachelors Degree in Education and a Masters in Social Policy from the University of Durban Westville is NOW the new Finance Minister taking the reigns from Pravin Gordhan. His Deputy replacing Mcebisi Jonas is  while Sifiso Buthelezi who was at one time the chairperson of the PRASA board- the one NOW axed chair at the parastatal Popo Molefe reported to the public protector for investigation for alleged maladministration and corruption under his term.

It turns out he did NOT consult the ANC about his decision to reshuffle cabinet, only on Finance Minister. The ruling party’s General secretary Gwede Mantashe told a number of radio stations including SAfm this morning that, the party’s top six was just given a list of the appoints but not consulted.

It is President Jacob Zuma’s prerogative to appoint and recall minister as head of state and government. But it would be great if he took the country into his confidence and told us why he fired the ministers.

Who is in, who is out?

the Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and Mcebisi Jonas have said they will remain members of parliament. If a motion of NO confidence against President Jacob Zuma is brought before parliament, will they along every ANC MP who is NOT agreeing with the reshuffle going to vote for the impeachment of Zuma.

For now it is a game of wait and see.
